Why We Started
Music education is one of the most demanding jobs in any school. Directors are expected to be performers, conductors, accountants, event planners, counselors, and community liaisons — often all in the same week. New educators in particular are frequently handed enormous responsibility with very little practical guidance on how to manage it. Prep Beats began as an answer to that gap: a place where the hard-won, day-to-day knowledge of the profession is written down, organized, and shared freely.

Alongside the writing, our Teaching Hub offers interactive rhythm and ear-training tools designed to help students develop core musical literacy through active practice rather than passive drilling. We also maintain a Jobs Board to help connect music educators with opportunities in the field.
