Who We Are
Prep Beats is created and written by Jason Griffith, Ed.D., a music educator and school administrator with more than three decades in public education. Over his career, Jason built a high school band program from 35 students to over 400, secured more than $600,000 in grants, earned a Kennedy Center Honorable Mention, and led an ensemble chosen as Kentucky's sole representative in a Presidential Inauguration Parade. He holds a Doctorate in Education (Ed.D.), a Harvard Certificate in School Management and Leadership, and K–12 Music Education certification, along with Kentucky principal and superintendent certifications.
Jason is also the founder and conductor of the Pine Mountain Wind Symphony, a 501(c)(3) community concert band. The perspective across this site comes from real experience — in the practice room, on the podium, in front of a full classroom, and in the administrative office where the schedules and budgets get decided. Prep Beats exists because Jason understands the challenges music teachers face: he has lived every one of them.
Occasional guest articles from other named music educators are clearly bylined with their own credentials, so you always know exactly whose experience you're reading.
